The topic this week is: favorite books released in the last ten years (one for each year). I love this idea, and may appropriate it for my 50th birthday this summer, choosing one for each year of my life. I'll be able to do that without repeating any of the books I chose this week because there is definitely more than one book I've loved in each of the last ten years!
It was SO HARD to choose just one, and I could easily make five alternate lists that are equally wonderful. But without overthinking it, here's my list. I'm using the publication date, not my read date.
2010 A Visit from the Goon Squad
2011 The Scorpio Races
2012 The Steel Seraglio
2013 Vicious
2014 How It Went Down
2015 You can't make me choose. Six of Crows. Orbiting Jupiter. Darker Shade of Magic. The War that Saved My Life. Challenger Deep. Drowned City. Made You Up. Every Last Word. Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. Symphony for the City of the Dead. All American Boys. Most Dangerous. It was a banner year. And that's not even counting the picture books!
2016 The Serpent King
2017 Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
2018 The Assassination of Brangwain Spurge
2019 The Paragon Hotel
As hard as it was to choose, I feel good about the list overall. We've got middle grade, YA, and adult. Fantasy, historical fiction, realistic fiction. Graphic novels. Multiple narrators. Wildly popular books and a few odd ducks. It's a good representation of what I read.

2015 was definitely a good year for books, although I managed to narrow it down to one for that year, lol.

The Serpent King does sound like it would be a good read.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT.
You and I have several similar selections: Scorpio Races, Most Dangerous, Eleanor Oliphant, and some I didn't mention: Serpent King, Challenger Deep (I was obsessed with that book for a while). My 10 years of favorites
ReplyDeleteBwahahaha 2015 seems to be a difficult year LOL Now I loved the Scorpio Race and The Serpent King too!
ReplyDeleteI think 2015 was a struggle for me too, but I usually went with the less hyped book for my picks. Some books need more love than others. I had to include TSK. That book. Wow! I may start crying right now.
ReplyDelete2015 was the hardest year for me to choose from, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat happened in 2015? Why were so many wonderful books published that year? Interesting.
ReplyDeleteI loved Eleanor Oliphant so much. And your list is a reminder that I still need to read Scorpio Races. It's a book I always see everywhere. Am I really going to like it when I finally get around to reading it?
I’ve read a lot of these! This week’s topic was so hard. I struggled to narrow down my list and pick favorites.

Haha I love that you couldn't pick from your 2015 reads 2017 was my stellar year. And I love Vicious and ADSOM <3 Schwab is awesome! Great choices :)
ReplyDeleteLol, 2015 was a big year for you!
ReplyDeleteThe Scorpio Races and Vicious - awesome!
ReplyDeleteLauren @ Always Me
Okay this is IMPRESSIVE! Also what the heck is happening in 2015!?!? The Serpent King would absolutely make my list, too!
ReplyDeleteOoooh! I totally missed this TTT, but it's a great idea! I think it would be really hard to pick a favorite for each year, but worth the effort. Love that you could pare them all down except for 2015, which just ended up crazy. LOL!
